Commitment to quality:  Other WSET providers may beat our price by a few dollars, but open only six, seven or eight wines.  We are dedicated to pouring better wines and having the best educational venue experience.  We may also pour the largest number of wines vs other WSET providers.  Our programs at our classroom features free street parking or $15 AT MATEO across the street with great restaurants next to our venue.

Who is this course designed for:

This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

What you’ll learn:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of wine regions, grape varieties, and wine styles.
  • Identify and describe the main wine categories.
  • Understand the principles of wine production, including fermentation, aging, and blending.
  • Develop an appreciation for the diversity of wine.
  • Understand the basics of wine service and storage.
  • How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
  • How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:
    • Chardonnay
    • Pinot Grigio/Gris
    • Sauvignon Blanc
    • Riesling
    • Cabernet Sauvignon
    • Merlot
    • Pinot Noir
    • Syrah/Shiraz
    • The style and quality of wines:
      • made from 22 regionally important grape varieties
      • produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
    • How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:
      • Sparkling wines
      • Fortified wines
    • Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
    • Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
    • Principles of food and wine pairing

Course format

3 day program. This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time:

  • 16 hours of in person class delivery time with the Prince of Wine Academy
  • 11 hours of personal study and revision
  • A one-hour closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.On successful completion of the examination you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

  • $150 deposit. Total cost is $950 ($800 balance)

    • WSET Level 2 complete study pack with textbook and study material

    • At least 38 wines tasted during course
  • Please note that WSET UK (the course accreditation organization) requires that all course students provide their date of birth as part of course registration. Prince of wine academy will send you an email form after checkout for official enrollment. 

All attendees must be at least 21 years of age.
