The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is the perfect starting point for anyone new to wine or looking to build confidence in tasting, service, and food pairing. This online format allows you to study flexibly at home while receiving expert guidance from Prince of Wine Academy.
Duration
- Four weeks of guided online study, completed at your own pace
- Expect to spend at least three hours per week on private study

Tasting Experience
Optional Tasting Kit: Want to taste along without sourcing your own bottles? Choose the tasting kit from e-tasting.com. It contains ten 50ml WSET-approved samples—perfectly portioned and shipped directly to you for at-home learning.
Technology Requirements
- WSET recommends a laptop or desktop computer with a reliable internet connection
- To take your exam online, you will also need a secondary device (smartphone or tablet) for secure remote invigilation
Exam Details
- 30 multiple-choice questions
- Exam time: 45 minutes
- Exams must be completed within one year of starting the course
- If you miss your scheduled exam or sign up after the deadline, WSET exam rescheduling fees may apply
Entry Requirements
- No prior wine knowledge required
- Students must be 21 years or older to enroll
Certification
Successful students receive the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines digital certificate, issued directly from WSET in London and recognized worldwide.
Cancellation / Refund Policy
- No refunds are available for cancellations within 15 days of the course start date; however, tuition may be applied to a future class
- If Prince of Wine Academy cancels a course, students may choose either a full refund or a rescheduled date
