LearnAboutWine has great appreciation of this large and luxurious Malibu Estate, we have received and toured hundreds of guests over the past 25 years.  The wines are long aging and benefit from both the heat of the elevation and the cool coastal influence.  This area is wonderful for Bordeaux varietals (Cab, Merlot and Other) and a STAR producer of Chardonnay!  The property makes for an amazing visit and the Malibu weather is always a treat.

Unfortunately, the recent Malibu fires destroyed the Rosenthal tasting room on PCH but this Estate was not harmed, and we want to celebrate this amazing destination with you as we did so many years ago.... this is our great return to Rosenthal.

Join us for an Estate Tour, Tasting and Lunch!  Grab your seats now!

Rosenthal The Malibu Estate Vineyard was most recently featured in the hit Netflix show Love on the Spectrum – Two of the cast members (Abbey & David) along with their families came to the vineyard to film a very special segment   – it was Abbey and David’s 3rd anniversary of dating… Our Host Amy received them, and she will receive you at this event as well.

Current Program:  Arrive 10:45 to park on the property (not prior) - 11am (sharp) Our Estate tour will start promptly - taste a white in the vineyard - walk the entire property including a visit to the private home with appetizers around the pool…  proceed to a library tasting with a casual taco lunch (all you can eat tacos and a library tasting) … ends at 1:30.

Established in 1987, Rosenthal – The Malibu Estate was the first vineyard planted in Malibu. Nestled just four miles from the Pacific Ocean at an elevation of 1,450 feet, the 28-acre estate enjoys a unique microclimate ideal for producing exceptional grapes.

Rosenthal holds the rare distinction of having its own American Viticultural Area: Malibu Newton Canyon A.V.A. Wines made from grapes grown in this mini-microclimate are found nowhere else in the world. In fact, to bear the Rosenthal label, a wine must be crafted exclusively from grapes grown on our Malibu estate.

The Wines: We will be pouring a wide selection of Rosenthal wines including some unique and rare library wines from George’s private collection!

"The Rosenthal Estate wine is the only venture I've put my name on in 60 years of multiple company businesses." -- George Rosenthal

George Rosenthal started out in business in 1955 when he founded Raleigh Enterprises, a small general contracting firm focused on developing single family residences. The business grew quickly and today the company is a diversified real estate investment and operating company. An international industry leader, Raleigh encompasses 15 wholly owned subsidiaries, including The Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood; Raleigh Film & Television Studios, worldwide; Hollywood Rentals; File Keepers, Inc; and, of course, Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate.

Yet even with all his success, George had never felt quite so fulfilled from an accomplishment as when he tasted his first Malibu vintage, the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate was born.

Amy Bergrud has been an integral part of the winery for 28 years, serving as General Manager for the past 14. Working closely with owner and proprietor George Rosenthal, Amy oversees wine operations and plays a key role in crafting the blends and selecting additional grapes that complement the estate's offerings. Together, they ensure the exceptional quality of the Rosenthal – The Malibu Estate, Surfrider, and G Collection wines that you'll enjoy at this event.

We open one bottle minimum per paying guest, and can reduce the total number of bottles being opened so that the event does not have to cancel should ticket sales not reach potential.  Fewer bottles will equal larger pours, so you will get the same quantity of wine and we always open the best wines for the quality of the event.
