LearnAboutWine Celebrates 30 Years of Educating Wine Enthusiasts!
Established in 1995, LearnAboutWine.com started as a place for a young and passionate wine student to post innocent findings and information - later called a blog. Classes started in and around 1997 with our first regular program called “WINE CAMP: An Introduction to Wine.” To date, we have hosted over 100,000 students, slowly improving the wine marketplace one class at a time.

March, 2025 - Ian Blackburn and Learnaboutwine.com celebrate 30 years as the internet’s first wine education website with special offerings, prices, classes, and a brand new Arts District home classroom!
“Wine Camp: An Introduction to Wine” is a two-hour tasting experience that explores 6-7 wines per class in a small group setting. The course teaches how wine is made, improves the ability to describe the smell and taste of wine, incorporates food and wine pairing techniques, and much more! It aims to demystify the ancient beverage and educate wine enthusiasts on a global scale.
Ian Blackburn discovered the wine industry as an undergraduate in college, being introduced to Robert Mondavi, Joseph Phelps, and Julia Child as a founder of the College Chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food at Cal Poly Pomona School of Hospitality Management. While working for renowned chefs like Thomas Keller and Joachim Splichal in some of LA's top dining rooms, Ian saw the need for an improvement to the wine culture and wine education for the residents and trades of Los Angeles.
