We are thrilled to announce a truly unique wine dinner in an utterly Hollywood setting.  This intimate farmers market-to-table meal will be prepared and hosted by chef, cookbook author, and Food Network personality Bob Blumer (aka the Surreal Gourmet) under the stars at his home below the “D” of the iconic Hollywood sign.

LearnAboutWine's Sommelier Ian Blackburn has selected wine pairings that will "dazzle and delight" even the most discerning connoisseur. Ian and the team will provide extraordinaire service for this event.  

To take this event up a notch, we are requiring each guest (or couple) to bring a special bottle "with a meaningful story to share with the table." An old champagne? A storied white? A ancient red? A rare dessert wine? Which will you bring, what will it reveal about you, and what conversations will it spark?! In return, Bob will gift each guest/couple with a copy of his award-winning cookbook Glutton for Pleasure.


Remember there are only 10 total guests, in a private home setting, with the intention of curating one of life's greatest experiences...

The Sprit of This Event

I understand that I will bring a special bottle to share with the table (we will send you an email asking you to take a photo of the bottle so that we can prepare for the wine). 1-bottle per person or per couple of significant quality (Best wine you ever had?) with a great story of why you selected that wine.

Guest #1 is Bringing Château Palmer, Bordeaux, France, 2012 | Story “How High Can You Go!!!!”

95 Points by multiple sources such as Dunnick, Parker, and Wine Spectator 
This is also one of the great producers in Bordeaux.
Often thought of as the ONE ESTATE that should be upgraded (or one of) to 1st Growth. 

Guest #2 is Bringing Vérité Tannat Le Coeur, Napa Valley, California, 2010 | Story “My Favorite Neighbor”

This  is a  small production and is not typically sold in California but only offered to wine club members.

Couple #3 is Bringing Weingut Wittmann Morstein, Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Rheinhessen, Germany | Story “Love Without Borders”

Valued at $140, this is an outstanding Riesling!
It has been rated between 94-97 Points by Decanter and Jancis Robinson.

Guest #5 is Bringing Vérité Le Désir, Sonoma County, California, 2005 | Story “My “Aha!” Moment Regarding Aged Wine”

Valued at $265, this wine is from one of California's best producers and it is a best kept secret.  
This wine received a perfect score of 100 Points from Robert Parker.

Guest #6 is Bringing Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet, Cote de Beaune, France, 2019 | Story "How I fell in love with Burgundy."

Valued at over $120 and scored between 91-93 from various top sources.
This is an absolutely beautiful Chardonnay from a top producer.


Couple #7 is Bringing Dominus Estate Christian Moueix, Napa Valley, California, 2009 | Story “My Cross Atlantic Bridge to France (French Wine)”

Valued at over $350 and scored with a nearly perfect 99 points from Robert Parker, this wine will be an amazing accent to our evening. At 13 years of age, this wine needs every bit of time it can be given.

About Bob Blumer

Gastronaut, author, and eight-time Guinness World Record holder Bob Blumer is best known as the creator and host of Food Network’s award-winning shows Surreal Gourmet, Glutton for Punishment, and World’s Weirdest Restaurants.
