Alma Rosa Winery was founded in 2005 by California wine industry pioneer Richard Sanford and his wife, Thekla. They named the winery after the 1839 Rancho Santa Rosa land grant that historically encompassed this region of Santa Barbara County. Richard Sanford was the first to plant Pinot Noir in the area in 1971 after detailed research of climate and geologic records. Richard went on to launch two wineries before creating Alma Rosa.

Situated on the north-facing slopes of the Santa Rosa Hills in Santa Barbara County, the Alma Rosa estate vineyard, El Jabali, was planted in 1983 and became the first certified organic vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Today, the Alma Rosa estate vineyards are 5 non-contiguous plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay — along with small amounts of cool climate Syrah and Grenache — that are farmed using sustainable practices. Vines total 38 acres across our 628-acre estate that stretches from the valley floor to the top of the range.

Bocce Ball Wine began with humble roots – a few rogue barrels, bottled and labeled by hand, shared among friends and family. Our journey started in 2017 with a single barrel of Syrah. The positive response inspired us to produce more, and since then, we've grown to nearly 800 cases per year, with no signs of slowing down. Our wine embodies the joy of sharing a bottle with friends, much like the sport of Bocce itself, which fosters storytelling, camaraderie, and friendship. This is why we chose the name Bocce Ball Wine.

Bocce can be as competitive or as playful as you make it, much like our wines. They are crafted to be both serious and fun, just like the game. This is why we describe ourselves as makers of seriously fun wine. Plus, we appreciate any sport that allows for a glass of wine while playing.

Our original Pali brand produces premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced primarily from vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills and neighboring wine-growing regions. The region’s terroir, including its transverse ranges, limestone rich soils, and cool ocean fog, is ideal for growing Pali’s poised Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wine grapes. While most of our grapes come from our Sta. Rita Hills estate ‘Pali Vineyard,’ Pali partners with a handful of other family-owned and world-renowned vineyards in the area among the likes of Fiddlestix, Rancho La Viña, and Bien Nacido Vineyards.

Temperance Cellars was started in 2012 by Lompoc native Justin Charbonneau. Located just west of the Sta. Rita Hills near the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, Temperance Cellars produces Pinot Noir, Syrah, and a handful of other varietals thanks in part to the multitude of micro-climates Santa Barbara County's Wine Country is home to. Charbonneau started his winemaking journey in 2009 studying under the careful tutelage of Santa Ynez legacy winemaker Dave Dascomb of Dascomb Cellars in Solvang. The name Temperance Cellars pays homage to Charbonneau's hometown of Lompoc, CA which was founded as a Temperance Colony(a place where alcohol was banned) in 1874. Temperance Cellars produces wines that are balanced, approachable, and very food friendly. Good wine is made in the vineyard and it's my responsibility to present what Mother Nature made for us" -Justin Charbonneau

tercero wines IS Larry Schaffer, owner and winemaker. Larry decided to switch things up after a successful career in the music and publishing industries, and went back to school and got his MS in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis. He then worked on the winemaking team at Fess Parker Winery for nearly a decade before branching off to commit his time to tercero.tercero produces 10-15 wines per year with a focus on Rhone varieties grown exclusively in Santa Barbara County. He enjoys working with lesser known varieties and championing them as best as possible. His techniques are rooted in old world winemaking - foot stomping red grapes, fermenting with 100% stems, using only older oak, oftentimes extended barrel and bottle aging.tercero has recently started producing non-Rhone varieties as well - because Larry is a very curious winemaker and there is no better area in the US to be 'curious' than Santa Barbara County. Newer additions to the lineup include Malvasia Bianca, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir.

I discovered the wine industry while working with Chef’s Thomas Keller and Joachim Splichal in the top dining rooms of Los Angeles. My passion redirected my career from restaurants/hotels to vineyards and wine-education. Now with over 25-years of experience hosting events; leading trips around the wine world; I published a wine book; produced my own wine called Beekeeper Cellars and sat for the difficult Master of Wine Exam! Today, I am considered one of the region's best wine educators and work for my 20,000 followers (follow me), visiting vineyards and wine regions and produce over 100 wine classes and events a year for my businesses and my team.
