In the region of Bordeaux, the Left Bank generally produces big bold and tannic Cabernet-based wines with pronounced blackcurrant and cassis flavors. The Right Bank wines are dominated by Merlot or Cabernet Franc and are generally more elegant, lean and fruit forward.
